The fanfare isn’t over just yet for San Antonio’s McAllister Park Little League All-Stars.
The group of 12- and 13-year-olds that took fourth place in this year’s Little League World Series will be the guests of honor at a parade this weekend at the San Antonio River Walk. The parade is slated to begin at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6.
It will end at the Arneson River Theater, where the team will be honored by city officials. Here is a map to the theater.
McAllister Park, located just down the street from us at Baseball Express HQ, gained national attention and became San Antonio’s feel-good sports story of the summer for its inspired run at the LLWS. The McAllisters were undefeated through pool play, winning their first two games by a 22-1 margin and upsetting the eventual champions, Chula Vista, Calif., in the final game of pool play.
They went on to defeat North Shore LL of Staten Island, N.Y., to earn a berth into the U.S. championship game, but they were dealt tough losses to Chula Vista, in the American championship game, and Mexico, in the consolation final.
We’ll update this story if/when more details are released about the parade.
