It’s Thursday, which means it’s time again for our weekly baseball rules trivia question.
Here’s how it works: We’ll post an in-game scenario. You tell us what call the umpire should make, if the umpire should make a call at all.
Without further ado, here’s this week’s scenario.
Runner leading off on third. The pitcher’s delivery is low, and the batter swings halfway.
The plate umpire motions for help from the field ump. As everyone’s attention is on the field ump, the catcher fires the ball to the third baseman, who tags the runner off the base.
The field ump’s call is “Strike!”
What’s the call on the runner?

While you think it over, here’s the famous USF-Pitt rain-out dance off.
