Thursday Trivia: The third pitch goes wild… What’s the call?

May 27, 2010

It’s that time again. It’s time for our weekly Thursday baseball rules trivia question.

Here’s how it works: We give you a situation. You tell us what call the umpire should make, if the umpire should make a call at all.

Without further ado, here’s today’s situation.

Nobody on base, one out. After going down 0-2 in the count, the batter refuses to take his position in the batter’s box.

The ump orders the pitcher to “Pitch the ball!” The pitch gets past the catcher, and the batter takes off for first.

What’s the call?

Think you know the answer? Post it here, give us a Tweet or find us on Facebook.

While you think it over, here’s a video of another strange pitching scenario.
