Time for another edition of Thursday trivia!
We give you a scenario. You tell us what the proper ruling would be.
Let’s get down to business:
With a runner on second and one out, a batter pops a short ball to center. The runner stays put. The second baseman tries to make a play on the ball, but as he’s moving to get into position to catch it, the runner stretches out (with one foot still on the base) and blocks his path.
The second baseman plows into the runner, the ball drops to the ground and batter reaches first. The second baseman says he was interfered with; the runner says he’s entitled to stand on his base.
What’s the call?
If you think you know the answer, post it here, give us a Tweet or find us on Facebook.
While you think it over, here’s a video of a home plate collision:
(It’s one of the few baseball collision videos on YouTube that doesn’t include a gruesome injury…)
